The World of Hiroshi Kagakui Exhibition

This is the first major retrospective exhibition held after the death of Hiroshi Kagakui (1955-2009), the author of the 'Daruma-san' picture book series with cumulative sales exceeding 10 million copies. Tracing the footsteps of Mr. Kagakui, who debuted at age 50 and produced 16 picture books in just 4 years before his sudden passing due to illness, the exhibition features original drawings from all 16 picture books, idea notebooks, video records from his days as a special needs school teacher, unfinished rough sketches, and other valuable materials. It is an exhibition that delves into the charm of Kagakui picture books that brought smiles to children across Japan.
