About this event

Lighting up the Toyohashi night sky with flames, the "Toyohashi Festival of Flame" is a traditional event that has continued since its inaugural holding in 1996. Hand-held cylinder fireworks (Tezutsu Hanabi), which can normally only be seen during specific shrine festivals, are specially launched on designated dates. Centered on hand-held cylinder fireworks, a wide variety of fireworks such as Net Fireworks (Amibi), Platform Fireworks (Daimono), and skyrocket fireworks can be enjoyed even from rear seats. Tezutsu Hanabi is a traditional firework originating in the Mikawa region, where gunpowder is packed into a bamboo cylinder and held by a person during discharge. Amid the roaring sound and flames soaring into the sky, the launcher stands unflinching, receiving the raining sparks over their entire body. That scene is truly a "dialogue with flame," allowing visitors to experience the heroic culture handed down through generations in Toyohashi. Smoking is prohibited inside the venue, and viewing is seated only. Please bring rain gear in case of rain. Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not permitted in audience seating other than the designated camera seats.
