Mariko Hirasawa Solo Exhibition "for my dear Companions"

At the STUDIO 894 gallery in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, painter and illustrator Mariko Hirasawa is holding a solo exhibition titled "for my dear Companions." Under the theme of "Companions (Cherished Beings)," this exhibition presents new ceramic accessory cases titled "a Box for My dear Companions," 17 newly painted ceramic plates, and printmaking works. Centered on the theme of cherished beings who support our hearts and share our time in daily life, the accessory cases and ceramic plates are imbued with Hirasawa's affection for them as if they were family. The ceramic accessory cases feature horse, cat, and dog motifs, accompanied by the subtitles "SHARE," "PLAY," and "RELAX," expressing a wish for shared time and relaxing moments with Companions. Artisans at Chugai Toen, a ceramic craft manufacturer in Seto City, carefully crafted Hirasawa's gentle expressions and forms into physical pieces. The 17 ceramic plates incorporate the accidental textures and nuances created by firing as part of the artwork, weaving various stories of animals' innocent expressions and peacefully flowing time. During the exhibition period, a talk event and gallery tour by Mariko Hirasawa will also be held, where she will discuss the creative background and thoughts invested in the works. Through artworks depicting the innocent gazes of animals and moments of quiet serenity, this exhibition provides an opportunity to reflect on one's own Companions.
