About this event

Held in Seto, which began Japan's first mass production of porcelain beckoning cats (maneki-neko) during the Meiji 30s (circa 1897-1906) and boasts over 100 years of maneki-neko history, the '31st Kuru Fuku Maneki Neko Festival in Seto' is an irresistible event for cat lovers where the entire town is dyed in maneki-neko themes. At Japan's largest maneki-neko competition, the 'Nippon Maneki Neko 100 Artists Exhibition', original creative maneki-neko by 100 publicly selected artists are on display and well worth seeing. Visitors can craft their one-of-a-kind original maneki-neko in a hands-on workshop, buy cat goods, or enjoy the Fuku-Fuku Lunch that comes with a ceramic maneki-neko bento box available for the last time this year. Furthermore, dressing up as a maneki-neko with makeup and cat ears while strolling around town is highly recommended.
