About this event

"Toyokawa Special Public Exhibition," held in Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture, is a limited-time event coinciding with the Toyokawa Inari Gokaicho held for the first time in 72 years, opening normally hidden Buddhist statues and cultural properties to the public across 12 shrines and temples in the city. At the Toga Shrine Treasure Hall exhibition, visitors can view portable shrines (mikoshi), a prefecture-designated cultural property dotaku (bronze bell), and Toyokawa City-designated Japanese saddles. At Zaiga-ji Temple, the Nijuhachibushu (Twenty-Eight Attendants) enshrined in the main hall sanctuary and the Aichi Prefecture-designated cultural property "Seated Statue of Hokan Amida Nyorai" will be displayed. Sanmyo-ji Temple will reveal its hidden Benzaiten, and Zenju Zenji Temple will open its hidden Buddhist statues, paintings, and main hall sanctuary. Hoju-ji Temple will display a nationally designated Important Cultural Property wooden standing statue of the Thousand-Armed Kannon, and Hachimangu Shrine will specially exhibit a city-designated portable shrine. Ryugen-ji Temple will present hidden Buddhist statues and paintings, and Utari Shrine will show a nationally designated Important Cultural Property Daihannyakyo Sutra, a prefecture-designated temple bell, and a mother-of-pearl inlaid saddle with floral patterns. Daion-ji Temple will exhibit a nationally designated cultural property Silk Colored Mandala of the Royal Palace along with paintings. In addition, reservations are required for some facilities. Furthermore, during the Gokaicho period, special public openings will also take place at the Nippon Sharyo Toyokawa Plant and the JGSDF Camp Toyokawa, which are usually closed to the public. At Nippon Sharyo, visitors can tour the "Nissha Memorial Rolling Stock Plaza," which preserves historic railway vehicles, and elementary school students can participate in commemorative photo sessions wearing Meitetsu uniforms. At the JGSDF Camp Toyokawa, the "Mikawa Historical Museum" will also be open to the public, offering exhibits of historical materials related to Camp Toyokawa and the local region. Through these events, visitors can deeply experience the charm of Toyokawa City's history, culture, and industry.
