Toyota City Museum Special Exhibition: Living Through the Sengoku Period - Masterpieces of the Hosokawa Clan and Eisei Bunko

The special exhibition "Living Through the Sengoku Period: Masterpieces of the Hosokawa Clan and Eisei Bunko" held at Toyota City Museum brings together documents, weapons and armor, calligraphy and paintings associated with the three generations—Fujitaka (Yusai), Tadaoki (Sansai), and Tadatoshi—who laid the foundation of the Hosokawa clan that survived the Sengoku period, as well as renowned tea utensils associated with Sen no Rikyu. From the Eisei Bunko collection, National Treasures representing the Hosokawa clan's famous swords, "Kokin Denju no Tachi" (late exhibition period) and "Meibutsu Hocho Masamune" (early exhibition period), will be featured, along with the famous sword "Kasen Kanesada." Furthermore, precious art and crafts collected in the modern era by Moritatsu Hosokawa, the founder of Eisei Bunko, will be introduced, offering insight into the spirituality of Sengoku warlords and their deep appreciation for culture and arts.
