Japanese name:北海道下川町SDGsスタディツアー
📅 Fri, Oct 9, 2026 - Sat, Oct 10, 2026
About this event
Jointly hosted by Shimokawa Town and the Nikkei ESG Management Forum, the 'Hokkaido Shimokawa Town SDGs Study Tour' is a valuable opportunity to learn about mechanisms that connect regional decarbonization initiatives to the revitalization of local economies and corporate value creation. Welcoming Professor Keisuke Takegahara from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies as a lecturer, participants will deepen their understanding through lectures and workshops. On the tour, participants can inspect the town's woody biomass heat supply facilities and forest management sites, experiencing firsthand the advanced sustainable initiatives Shimokawa Town has promoted. Despite being a small town with a population of approximately 2,800, the town's initiatives aiming for the realization of a sustainable local community through the integrated resolution of economic, social, and environmental issues—such as community revitalisation utilizing forest resources that occupy about 90% of the town's area, selection as an SDGs Future City in 2018, and the 2050 Zero Carbon City Declaration—will be introduced through the 'Shimokawa Version SDGs' formulated primarily by town residents.
