Kiyosu City Haruhi Painting Triennale Artist Series +: Marks of Observation
Japanese name:清須市はるひ絵画トリエンナーレ アーティストシリーズ+ 観察のしるし
📅 Fri, Jul 10, 2026 - Thu, Sep 3, 2026
About this event
From its opening in 1999 until 2021, the Kiyosu City Haruhi Museum of Art continuously held open-call painting exhibitions, reflecting the transitions in pictorial expression of each era. With the aim of discovering and nurturing new talent, it also concurrently held the "Artist Series" exhibitions featuring winners and selected artists from the open-call exhibitions. In this exhibition, "Artist Series +", while carrying on previous initiatives, artists who received selection or honorable mention in the open-call exhibitions and have continued their activities since then are featured in a group exhibition format. Focusing on the act of "observation" conducted during the creative process, works by three artists are introduced. Sae Shimizu develops paintings and collage drawings using materials with different qualities while reacting to the state of what is being seen and the texture when touched. Yuhiro Tsuchiya reflects on phenomena such as life and death, time, and cosmic space, converting them into images by repeating identical figures or replacing them with lines, points, and color planes. Emi Hiramatsu meticulously depicts situations where living things, plants, books, ornaments, and other objects are gathered together, creating a world where rambling things coexist equally within the picture plane. Although the three artists differ in themes and expressive techniques, careful observation of their own thoughts, sensations, or the state of objects can be seen in their creative processes. The perspectives discovered through their works will provide suggestions regarding ways of perceiving things and the nature of their differences. Please take your time to view the works of the three artists born from observation and the exhibition space where their respective viewpoints resonate with one another.
