About this event
Ongakuza Musical presents the world's first musical adaptation of the masterpiece of children's literature that won both the Carnegie Medal and the Kate Greenaway Medal. Thirteen-year-old boy Yona lives with unspeakable anxiety at school and at home. One night, the yew tree in the backyard appears as a 'monster'. The monster tells Yona three stories and finally says, 'Tell your own story.' As he listens to the strange stories that somehow touch reality, the feelings Yona has long suppressed begin to stir. The reason why nightmares appear every night at 12:07 also gradually begins to take shape. After the third story ends, Yona's turn to speak finally arrives. What is 'his own story' that he has kept hidden deep in his heart? And what are the feelings he is trying to face? A moving musical depicting a boy facing his own truth through his encounter with the yew tree monster, with the themes of 'loss and renewal'.
