About this event

"Seiwa Art Fes" is an event where the former Seiwa Elementary School, which closed in 2007, is brought back to life as an artistic space. This event started from voices lamenting the decaying of the elementary school. With each edition, the program has grown richer, turning into an art festival that anyone from small children to seniors can experience. In addition to exhibitions of works by artists active locally and within Hokkaido, an experiential art space emphasizing physical interaction with the artworks will be created. Using the rich nature of Horokanai as a canvas, visitors can experience art with all five senses through touching, creating, wearing, and lying down. Packed with the passion of Yoko Yoshinari, who has continued farming and stained glass production for 30 years, and her daughter Shoko Yoshinari, a craft artist and graduate of Seiwa Elementary School, this festival offers a new art experience through exhibited works, workshops, and various hands-on programs.
