Japanese name:第39回東海道関宿街道まつり
📅 Sun, Nov 1, 2026
About this event
The 39th Tokaido Seki-juku Highway Festival is held across the former Tokaido Seki-juku post town, an area preserving numerous townhouses from the Edo and Meiji periods. The theme of this year's Grand Post Town Procession is "Historic Procession Related to Kameyama," featuring historical figures connected to Kameyama such as Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Shizuka Gozen, Prince Oama, and Siebold. Giving visitors the sensation of slipping back into the Edo period, the festival features the Grand Procession as well as stage events such as enka and ninja shows, displays of Seki festival floats, traditional musical accompaniment (ohayashi) workshops, and bazaars. Visitors can fully enjoy the festival atmosphere while strolling through the historic streetscape of Seki-juku, designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
