About this event

The Kiwa Furusato Festival traces its roots back to the 'Yamanokami Festival' in 1941 (Showa 16) and has passed down local traditional culture for over 70 years. Held around the Itaya area in Kiwa-cho, a region that flourished as a copper mine from the early Showa period, the event features local performing arts shows, as well as various stage and attraction events that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to seniors. In particular, the Itaya area where the venue is located has rich veins of gold, silver, and copper dating back to ancient times, and boasts a history of prosperity as a mining town, including the invention of groundbreaking copper ore smelting techniques during the Edo period. At the festival, visitors can learn about the history of this region and enjoy activities such as mochimaki (rice cake throwing), providing a fun-filled experience of watching, eating, and playing.
