Opening of New Facility "Awai" at Inabe City Plum Grove Park

Inabe City Plum Grove Park in Inabe City, Mie Prefecture, will be reborn in the summer of 2026 as a new facility called "Awai." "Awai" is derived from the ancient Japanese word "au" (to meet/join), signifying an "interval" or boundary between people, things, time, and more, aiming to be an intermediate space where two elements overlap. At the accommodation wing "Oyado," inspired by satoyama row houses, all 6 rooms are equipped with semi-open-air baths where guests can spend a luxurious time feeling the natural breeze while overlooking the Suzuka Mountains. In addition, the pet-friendly accommodation facilities come fully equipped with a dog run. The main hub facility features a restaurant, gallery, shop, hands-on experience & activity area, and a tourist information center, where visitors can enjoy meals utilizing local flavorful vegetables and ingredients. Aiming to become a local treasure, it is a place where guests can not only stroll through the vast plum grove but also enjoy Inabe's comfortable lifestyle and natural charm with all five senses throughout the year. The concept is to provide a satoyama experience shaped by five elements: "protect, play, learn, know, and return." The new facility "Awai" is scheduled to open in August 2026, with some operations such as accommodations scheduled to begin in September.
