About this event
At the summer special exhibition "Walking the Night Road: Akitsuki Akira's Night Landscapes III" held at the Iga City Museum Aoyama Sansosha in Beppu, Iga City, Mie Prefecture, visitors can experience the atmosphere and beauty of the night depicted by ink painter Akira Akitsuki. Approximately 40 pieces, including artworks faintly glowing in the dark and moonlit landscape paintings, will be displayed in exhibition rooms illuminated only by candlelight. Holding candlelight in hand, visitors can enjoy a magical atmosphere as if they were actually inside a nighttime landscape. By turning off the lights and displaying the works solely by candlelight, this exhibition expresses the nighttime world painted by Akira Akitsuki. It is an exhibition where you can feel with all five senses the presence and beauty of nighttime scenery, where even familiar mountains and rivers appear as if from an otherworldly realm.
