About this event
On the night of the Mid-Autumn Harvest Moon, approximately 2,000 candle lights illuminated around the Itsukinomiya Historical Experience Hall create a magical scene casting a glow over the Shinden-zukuri style architecture. Surrounded by candle light, the building modeled after a Heian-period nobleman's residence evokes a world reminiscent of a Heian picture scroll. Inside the hall, the scene of the Saio performing a moon-viewing ceremony is reenacted, accompanied by a performance of elegant traditional Japanese musical instruments. In addition, bamboo light art is displayed in the courtyard, further enhancing the enchanting atmosphere. With food trucks set up at Okura Square and a Jugoya Fun Square available, there are plenty of attractions for visitors to thoroughly enjoy an autumn evening in Saiku. Visitors can experience Heian-period moon-viewing customs and spend an elegant time.
