About this event

The Annual Grand Festival, the most important festival among the yearly rituals, holds its main festival day every year on November 16 and celebrates its Celebration Festival on the third Sunday of November. During the Celebration Festival, mochi pounding is demonstrated by the Erihara Haya-Mochitsuki Preservation Society, which passes down a rare mochi-pounding technique in Japan, and freshly pounded mochi is served on the spot. In addition, the scattering of "Koube no Fukumochi" blessed with the virtues of the deity of the head takes place, accompanied by dedications of gagaku court music and dances performed by musicians during the ceremony. The schedule of festive entertainment events may change depending on the spread of COVID-19.
