About this event
Held mainly in the northern area of Nagahama City, the "Kannon no Sato Furusato Matsuri" is an event touring numerous Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) statues that have been preserved and passed down since ancient times. Kannon halls usually closed to the public will be opened, offering a precious opportunity to view renowned Kannon statues designated as National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties of Japan. The event offers a Kannon circuit tour bus excursion (advance reservations required) and admission passports (including a free bus) covering participating halls. In addition, the "YO! Omairiyasu! Monzen-ichi" market featuring local gourmet food will be held on the grounds of Doganji Kannon-do (Kogen-ji Temple), allowing visitors to experience the unique charms of Kohoku. Highly recommended not only for Buddhist statue enthusiasts but also for anyone wishing to explore the history and culture of Nagahama, making it the perfect event for a leisurely autumn journey through Kohoku.
