The reeds growing in clusters around the "Azuchi-Hachiman Waterways," one of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa, are precious natural assets that purify water, soil, and air. Held to help people connect with these reeds and rediscover their value, the "Lake Nishi Reed Illumination Exhibition" features hundreds of lamp shades and art objects of various sizes made from reeds lined up along the shores of Lake Nishi. When lit at dusk, the surroundings of the lake are enveloped in bright, gentle light, inviting visitors into a magical world. The warm light filtering through the reeds offers a nostalgic and soothing moment. In 2026, to commemorate the "450th Anniversary of the Construction of Azuchi Castle," a special corner will be set up displaying 450 lamp shades and an Azuchi Castle object. This is an event where you can experience the beauty of natural reed blessings through light art.
