Zen and Ghibli Kyoto Exhibition

About this event

Based on the book "Zen and Ghibli," a compilation of conversations between Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki and Zen monks, this experiential exhibition allows visitors to encounter a "Zen perspective" through Ghibli works. The world of Ghibli films resonates deeply with Zen philosophy—embracing multiplicity rather than dividing good and evil, leaving space rather than rushing for answers, and taking things in as they are without categorizing or judging. Centered on Director Hayao Miyazaki's latest work "The Boy and the Heron" (Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru ka), this perspective is brought vividly to life through memorable quotes, scene stills, and calligraphy by Toshio Suzuki. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the question of how to navigate our current era.
