About this event
The "Enbetsu Bon Odori and Fireworks Festival," a summer tradition in Enbetsu Town—known as the northernmost limit for wet-rice cultivation—is an event that colors the end of a brief summer. The event begins with the cute "Children's Bon Odori," followed by the "Costume Bon Odori Contest" starting at 18:30. In this costume contest, many participants entertain the audience with unique costumes, with 100,000 yen awarded to the winner of the group division (3 or more people) and 10,000 yen to the winner of the individual division. Participation with creative disguises ranging from authentic to humorous is encouraged. In addition, a beer garden, children's festival games, and food truck sales organized by "Waen," an alliance of young men's associations in Enbetsu Town, are planned, allowing visitors to enjoy food and shopping. The grand finale of the event is a magnificent fireworks display. Advance entry is required to participate in the Costume Bon Odori Contest. In case of rain, the event will be held in the indoor multipurpose hall of Lifelong Learning Center Manapy 21.
