About this event
The Eight Views of Yawata originated during the Genroku era as a full-scale literary activity initiated by Naotaka Kashimura, a Shinto official (jinin) of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine, under the command of the Retired Emperor Reigen, with court nobles composing waka and Chinese poetry and the Satomura family of official shogunate renga masters composing renga hokku opening stanzas. This special exhibition explores the world of the Iwashimizu jinin who developed various activities. It will be a valuable opportunity to experience the culture and art of that time.
