About this event
Held every year at the end of August, this festival wraps up the summer. It has been held to commemorate the opening of Wachi Station in 1910 (Meiji 43) and has a tradition lasting over 100 years. Visitors can enjoy presentations by local groups, popular song shows, and comedy live performances. In addition, traditional performing arts such as Wachi Taiko drumming performances and the locally transmitted Bunshichi Dance will be performed, enlivening the venue. During the festival period, many fun food stalls and shops will be set up, bustling with many people. At the climax, the locally transmitted Bunshichi Dance is performed, and the entire venue comes together with excitement. Wachi Taiko has a heroic sound within its rustic rhythm, with transverse flutes and gongs setting the tone. Bunshichi Dance is characterized by using no musical instruments at all, danced solely to the voice of the ondo narrator and the handclaps and shouts of the dancers lined up in a circle.
