About this event
Water Art Festival 2026, held in Mizuma Monzenmachi, Kaizuka City, Osaka Prefecture, is an art festival celebrating its second edition this year. It is an attempt to layer new perspectives onto the history, landscapes, and human activities etched into the land of Mizuma, such as Mizuma-dera Temple, which has gathered deep faith from commoners to feudal lords since its founding about 1,300 years ago, Mizuma Kaido Highway, where many goods and people once traveled, and the waterways that support agriculture in Kaizuka City. Having gone through vibrant eras—such as the development of the textile industry from the Meiji to Showa periods and the opening of the Mizuma Railway in the Taisho period—this town still retains traces of multi-layered memories today. This art festival hopes to be an opportunity for visitors to come to Mizuma and listen to the narratives spun by this land. Venues are diverse, including traditional folk houses, Mizuma-dera Temple grounds, Mizuma Yuen, Mizuma Kaido Highway, and Mizumakannon Station, and are accessible on foot from Mizumakannon Station on the Mizuma Railway. The viewing pass is 1,000 yen for general admission, 500 yen for high school students, and free for junior high school students and younger.
