About this event

As the red spider lilies finish blooming, the exciting festival season arrives in Hannan City. Starting with the Yagura Parade, where locally cherished yagura floats gather in front of Hannan City Hall, autumn festivals will be held across various parts of Hannan. In Reiwa 8 (2026), the Yagura Parade will be held on Sunday, October 4, with an opening ceremony at 16:00, the parade starting at 16:30, and all neighborhood floats exiting the parade route by 19:00. Traffic restrictions will be in effect on roads around the parade route from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Dedicated barrier-free viewing seats will be set up in front of City Hall for elderly persons and individuals with disabilities, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Comments from each neighborhood share details about newly built or renovated yagura and how children and adults unite to energize the festival. For example, Asahicho is the only neighborhood among the 20 to pull its yagura adorned with windsocks on the rear, while Kaikake's yagura had its nagaya and main decorative curtains renewed during a major renovation. Jinenji Kamigumi's current yagura was newly constructed in Heisei 30 (2018) by local carpenters Yoshi Construction, and Ishida Miyamoto built a new yagura in fiscal Heisei 2 (1990). Shimodai's yagura underwent major repairs in Reiwa 5 (2023) and features numerous unique craftsmanship details. The highlight of Jinenji Higashi (Higashi) Gumi's shrine ascent is the heroic sight of dashing through the grand torii gate up to the main hall with the spirit of "Saishin Itki" (raising a banner with festival spirit). Tottorinaka built a new yagura in Heisei 9 (1997), and Nishi Tottori Kamigumi, distinguished by light blue headbands, completed major renovations restoring its beautiful wood carvings. Hote Gumi is pulled joyfully by everyone regardless of age from children to adults, while Aioicho's yagura was built in Heisei 8 (1996) through the passion of local residents and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Shinmachi's yagura was newly built in Reiwa 4 (2022), has been exhibited at the World Expo, and features a mikoshi portable shrine. Hakotsukurinishi takes pride in everyone having energetic and harmonious fun at the festival. Kuroda will do their best again this year to create a true Kuroda-style festival. Jinenji Kamihigashigumi conducts their festival with the neighborhood association and three organizations united, fostering an environment where children can easily participate and hosting events that delight kids. Ozaki Miyamotocho is proud of its energetic yagura pulling with united teamwork from children to adults. Izumi Tottori built a new yagura in Heisei 25 (2013) and added brand-new, gorgeous curtains in Reiwa 6 (2024). Onishicho also prides itself on dynamic yagura pulling with unified harmony across all ages. Hakotsukurihigashi's current yagura was built in Heisei 12 (2000) and is so exceptionally massive that it is boasted to be Hannan City's largest. Yamanakadani's yagura was newly built in Reiwa 1 (2019) and is one of the rare floats made of zelkova wood. Sakaegumi hosts a fun and friendly autumn festival enjoyed by both young and old.
