About this event

The 2026 Tadaoka Town Danjiri Festival will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 for Yoimiya (Eve Festival) and Sunday, October 11, 2026 for Honmiya (Main Festival). The Tadaoka Town Danjiri Festival is a traditional event held every October to pray for bountiful harvests and safety. In the town, four danjiri floats from Nakanocho, Ikue, Michinocho, and Hamanocho are pulled throughout the area. On Yoimiya, the opening float pulling begins around 6:00 AM, followed by morning pulling around 9:00 AM, a parade by the four districts around 1:00 PM, and a ceremony in front of the Civic Center around 2:00 PM. Afternoon pulling continues until around 5:30 PM, lantern-lit pulling takes place starting around 7:00 PM, and pulling is scheduled to end around 10:00 PM. On Honmiya, the Miyairi ceremony takes place at Tadaoka Shrine around 8:00 AM, followed by float pulling by each district and Miyairi pulling. A joint pulling event with all four danjiri floats is scheduled from around 11:00 AM, with afternoon pulling continuing until around 6:00 PM. Lantern-lit pulling starts around 7:00 PM, and pulling is scheduled to end around 10:00 PM. On the festival days, congestion is expected in various parts of town due to danjiri pulling. During the pulling of danjiri, please follow instructions from staff and security personnel, and avoid approaching rope pullers, hazardous areas along the route, and off-limits areas. Spectators are asked to observe good manners, such as taking their trash home. Drinking and smoking under the age of 20 are prohibited.
