On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Grand Sumo Autumn Tour 'Akashi Basho' will be held at Nisshin Tako-chan Arena (Akashi Central Gymnasium) in Okubo-cho, Akashi City. This tour in Akashi is the first in 26 years, making it a major event featuring approximately 110 sumo wrestlers. On the day, after doors open at 9:00, fun programs such as open practice, bouts from Makushita and below through Makuuchi, handshake sessions with wrestlers, and Shokkiri (comic sumo) will take place. There is also a segment where Sekitori wrestlers coach children, offering content that families with children can enjoy. Until the uchidashi (conclusion) around 14:30, it is a rare opportunity to view the impressive figures of the wrestlers up close. Wrestlers are also said to readily accommodate autograph and photo requests.
