About this event
An autumn fair where you can enjoy local gourmet food and sake from the Nada Gogo and Nishinomiya-go regions on the grounds of Nishinomiya Shrine, home to "Japan's No. 1 Ebessan." Celebrating its 30th edition this year, eight breweries—Hakushika, Hakutaka, Nihonsakari, Ozeki, Takaramusume, Tokuwaka, Shimabijin, and Nadaichi—will be lined up, while around 30 local restaurants and food trucks serve dishes that pair well with sake. Paid tastings cost around 100 to 600 yen per cup in cash, with no advance ticket purchase required. At 12:00 PM on the first day, there will be a simultaneous toast and kagami biraki (sake barrel opening) in front of the main shrine using commemorative wooden cups (masu) for the first 800 visitors (500 yen), as well as a procession recreating the Edo period's shinshubanbune (first sake transport ships). A free loop bus, "Sakagura Meguri-go," runs every 20 minutes to five sake brewery venues, including the Sake Museum and Hakutaka Rokusuien. Admission is free, but tasting and food/drinks are paid in cash at each booth. Arriving by car, motorcycle, or bicycle is prohibited, and the venue is about a 5-minute walk from Hanshin Nishinomiya Station. Non-drinkers can also enjoy around 30 food and drink booths, a specialty marche, and events such as kagura dance and processions.
