Gayain Temple: 'Okuri-bon Manto-e (Lantern Festival)'

Gayain Temple 'Okuri-bon Manto-e' is an event held on August 22, 2026. Approximately 6,000 lanterns along about 700 stone steps will be lit on the approach to Gayain Temple, creating a fantastical atmosphere. Held during the Okuri-bon period (sending off ancestral spirits), visitors can enjoy a beautiful spectacle coloring the summer night. At the event, lanterns will line an approach of approximately 100 meters, and lanterns will also be installed along an approach of about 25 meters. Furthermore, approximately 3,000 lanterns are scheduled to be lit along an approach of about 300 meters. It is an event that captivates many people as a special summer night experience.
