About this event
At the special exhibition 'Abashiri Sandy Beaches and Coastal Environment' held at the Abashiri City Museum of Local History, visitors can learn deeply about Abashiri's sandy beaches and coastal environment. Prior to this exhibition, the 'Marine Day Beachcombing' event will be held on July 20, 2026. In this event, participants will walk on the sandy beaches of Abashiri, search for washed-up drift items, and observe plants and insects inhabiting the coast, thereby deepening their understanding of Abashiri's coastal environment. The event will take place from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and will proceed with shortened content and duration even in rainy weather. The meeting place is the Abashiri City Museum of Local History, from which participants will travel to the site by bus. The target audience is the general public; children must be accompanied by a guardian. The capacity is 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Items such as clothing suitable for outdoor activities and water bottles for heatstroke prevention are required. Applications are accepted by phone (0152-43-3090) and will close once capacity is reached. This exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to raise interest in Abashiri's rich natural environment.
