Ski Orienteering Experience in Hachi Kogen

Held at Hachi Kogen Ski Resort in Yabu City, Hyogo Prefecture, the 'Ski Orienteering Experience in Hachi Kogen' is a hands-on event for navigation sports conducted on snowy mountains, combining cross-country skiing and orienteering. Although its recognition is still low in Japan, it is a sport actively practiced in Northern Europe, with World Cups and World Championships also being held. Participants use a map and compass to search for controls set up on the snowy mountain, aiming to finish in the fastest time. Thorough lessons ranging from how to put on skis to reading maps are provided so that beginners can participate with confidence. It is an excellent opportunity to experience a new sport in Yabu City, where the World Games are also scheduled to be held in 2027.
