About this event

"AWAJI ISLAND TRAIL -The Legend of KUNIUMI 2026" is a trail running race set on Awaji Island, known as the island of nation-birth. First held in 2024, it reaches its 3rd edition in 2026. Aiming to promote the charms of Awaji Island nationwide and connect trail runners with the island, the event also involves local residents in race operations to revitalize the community. Through the race, the project also seeks to develop long trails and nurture them as valuable tourism resources of Awaji Island for the future. This event offers a "running journey" embarking on a one-of-a-kind adventure touring hills overlooking the beautiful sea, historical sites, and cultural areas. The Long Course covers a distance of 42 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 2,200 m and a 90% trail ratio, traversing Awaji Island. In addition, a new 23 km Short Course has been established so that more people can enjoy Awaji Island's trails. At the hot spring facility adjacent to the finish venue, participants can refresh immediately after finishing the race. Striving for paperless procedures and an environmentally friendly, sustainable race is also a major feature.
