About this event
Held in Kato City, Hyogo Prefecture, the Tojo River Canal Wellness Cycling is a guided cycling tour that visits representative historic facilities of the Tojo River Canal and the rural landscape spread across the Special A district for Yamada Nishiki sake rice. With a riding distance of approximately 30 km, you can experience the local history and nature with all five senses while feeling the breeze. On the tour, you will learn about the historical value of the Tojo River Canal, which was developed in the early Showa period, and visit facilities such as Ansei Pond and Sone Siphon. In addition, you will ride through the production area of Yamada Nishiki, known as Japan's premier sake rice, and enjoy the scenery of rice fields and satoyama that changes its expression with each season. For lunch, enjoy a hearty meal at MINICAFE, popular with bikers and cyclists. Furthermore, take a break at cafeBB, a renovated warehouse from the late 1960s to early 1970s (Showa 40s), with crepes made from Yamada Nishiki rice flour and specialty coffee, allowing you to experience the local food culture. Rental bikes include cross bikes or electric-assist compact bicycles, so even beginners can participate with peace of mind. With a small-group system, this is a wellness experience where you can fully enjoy the charms of Kato City at your own pace with support from a guide.
