About this event

Held in Shin'onsen Town, Hyogo Prefecture, the '39th Hamasaka Port Crab Festival' is an irresistible event for crab lovers set at Hamasaka Fishing Port, which boasts one of Japan's top landing volumes of Matsuba crab (snow crab). At the venue, dining corners where you can taste fresh Matsuba crab prepared on the spot by crab sommeliers are set up, allowing you to enjoy crab sashimi and grilled crab. In addition, dishes using Sekogani (female snow crab), such as Sekogani bowls, Sekogani rice, and Sekogani croquettes, are also served, making it ideal for lunch. In particular, the direct sales corner for 'Giant Cauldron Boiled Sekogani,' lifted and boiled by crane, is one of the festival's major highlights. Furthermore, complimentary crab soup service (first-come, first-served while supplies last) and extensive sales corners for seafood, agricultural produce, and local specialty goods make it perfect for souvenir hunting. On the day, starting with the opening ceremony, stage events including Kirin Lion Dance performed by local high school students, Yosakoi Soran Bushi, wind orchestra performances, and dance performances will be presented. Moreover, a Sekogani meat extraction speed contest and an enjoyable mochimaki (rice cake toss) where you might win luxurious prizes will be held to liven up the venue. The venue is Hamasaka Fishing Port Auction Market, and parking accommodating approximately 800 vehicles is prepared nearby.
