About this event
The Tsubetsu Wood Loss Marche is a timber intake (purchasing) initiative operated as one of the functions of the Tsubetsu Town Woody Biomass Center. 'Wood loss' is a term coined in Tsubetsu Town referring to 'unused forest timber,' and 'marche' is French for 'market.' The project aims to return revenue to forest owners, create a space that fosters interest in forests and forestry, and collect/effectively utilize unused timber to support forest management. By bringing wood to this marche, participants can earn modest income (pocket money) while contributing positively to Tsubetsu Town. Timber from forests and mountain areas, as well as residential garden trees (excluding processed wood such as furniture), are accepted regardless of tree species or dimensions. The drop-off procedure consists of completing and submitting a form, weighing the vehicle on a truck scale per staff instructions, unloading logs at the designated yard, re-weighing the vehicle on the scale, and collecting the slip and cash at reception. For fiscal year 2026, it runs once a month from May to November, with the August session scheduled for August 22 (the fourth Saturday). Event hours are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
