About this event
An autumn festival held at Kagamitsukuri Shrine in Tawaramoto Town, Nara Prefecture. On the fourth Saturday of October, the 'Yoimiya Light Festival' takes place, enveloping the shrine approach in a mystical atmosphere illuminated by countless candles. In the worship hall (haiden), live musical performances by musicians and sacred Kagura dance dedications by shrine maidens (miko) are offered. On the following Sunday, the 'Annual Festival' (Reisai) is held to pray for bountiful harvests and regional development. The shrine has long been revered for housing the deity of mirror casting, drawing worshippers from mirror and glass manufacturing industries, as well as beauticians and hairdressers seeking divine blessing as a deity of beauty for technical improvement. During the Yoimiya Festival, from 6:00 p.m. to past 8:00 p.m., miko offer Kagura dances at the haiden while many lights illuminate the shrine grounds. The Annual Festival begins at 10:00 a.m.
