Itakiso Shrine Annual Festival (Autumn Festival)

About this event

This is an annual festival held every year on October 15 at Itakiso Shrine in Wakayama City, known as the shrine of the "God of Trees." It is a Shinto ritual expressing gratitude for a year of divine favor during the rice harvest season, conducted in the main hall starting at 10:00 AM. Following the ritual ceremony, children's portable shrines (kodomo mikoshi) are brought out and parade back and forth through the shrine grounds. The Shinko-sai, where the portable shrine crosses to the inner shrine (Niu Shrine), is held separately on the first Sunday after October 15.
