About this event
Organized by the Ryujin Tourism Association, the "2026 Summer Lantern Festival" is held in the Ryujin Onsen hot spring town and participating lantern facilities in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. This event sets up lanterns at cooperating facilities across Ryujin Village to create an enchanting atmosphere with the gentle light of candles, aiming to attract tourists and enhance the appeal of the atmospheric hot springs and inns. Candle lights are lit in front of the hot spring town and participating facilities, creating a magical space. Bamboo lanterns are also set up at Onsen-ji Temple. On the day, various events will entertain visitors, including a "Photo Session", a "Photo Contest" inviting photo submissions, a "Time Travel Photo Exhibition" showcasing past winning works, and "Challenge the Ryujin Expert!" offering a quiz challenge about Ryujin. Visitors can enjoy an evening stroll through Ryujin Village enveloped in the magical glow of lanterns.
