2nd Winter Starry Sky Photo Session in Kushimoto
Japanese name:第2回 冬の星空撮影会in串本
📅 Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
The 2nd Winter Starry Sky Photo Session in Kushimoto will be held in Kushimoto Town, the southernmost town on Honshu. Set around Kashinosaki Lighthouse, one of Japan's oldest stone lighthouses, photographer Sohei Terui will welcome participants as an instructor to teach everything from the basics to practical techniques of starry sky photography. On the day of the event, the lighthouse's external spiral staircase will be specially opened to the public, allowing participants to try taking unique photos combining the lighthouse and the starry sky. Additionally, a starry sky photo contest will be held for participants, and works taken within Kushimoto Town can also be submitted after the event. With a location where you can feel close to space—unique to Kushimoto Town, home to Japan's first commercial rocket launch site, Space Port Kii—this event lets you fully enjoy the charm of star-filled night skies and natural landscapes. Beginners in starry sky photography are also welcome, and detailed guidance will be provided starting from basic camera settings.
