About this event
The '31st Moon Festival', held in Saji-cho, Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture, is an annual autumn event held at Saji Astro Park to coincide with the Harvest Moon (Chushu no Meigetsu). A diverse program is prepared, including astronomical observation sessions of the moon and Saturn using the 103 cm large telescope 'Kiratto', planetarium screenings, a tea ceremony corner, craft workshops, a quiz rally, and a fun raffle. In the opening, dances by the Saji-cho Women's Association and umbrella dances by Tsuno Seiyukai will also be performed. The planetarium screenings include live commentary on the night sky of the day and the Harvest Moon, with 8 screenings of 20 minutes each. The astronomical observation of the moon and Saturn will run from 19:00 to 21:30, with a commemorative photo service. There will also be food stall corners offering traditional sweets (dagashi), oshiruko (sweet red bean soup), and dango. In addition, the 'Cosmos Marche' will be held concurrently at the adjacent Cosmos Hall, where visitors can enjoy live musical performances, food stalls, and workshops. An information booth regarding the Tottori Station area redevelopment project will also be set up, providing a venue for exchanging opinions. It is an event where visitors can fully enjoy a long autumn night under the starry sky with family and friends.
