Held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Wakasa Town, Tottori Prefecture, the 'Wakasa Railway Summer Vacation Big Event' is a perfect day out for railway fans and families. The event runs from 9:00 to 15:00 on the grounds of Wakasa Station, with free admission. The highlight is the railroad spike driving experience (1,000 yen), an exclusive simulation of railway maintenance work; participants can take home the used spike. There are plenty of exciting railway attractions, including an SL trolley ride experience (200 yen), turntable rotation experience (free), and an SL cab ride experience (500 yen). In addition, visitors can enjoy touring the DD16 7 driver's cab (100 yen) and riding in a snowplow vehicle (200 yen). At the railway merchandise corner, spending 500 yen or more lets you try a gacha machine, which may include an original wristwatch as a prize. Other workshops perfect for making summer vacation memories include badge making (100 yen per session) and track ballast painting (100 yen per session). The venue can also be accessed from the parking lot side of Roadside Station 'Wakasa Sakuranbo'.
