Autumn Mountain Walk and History Exploration: FY2026 Kamikura Ushiroguchiyama Ruins On-Site Briefing

About this event

This is an autumn mountain walking and historical exploration event visiting the "Kamikura Ushiroguchiyama Ruins" resting deep in the mountains of Kamikura, Misasa Town, Tottori Prefecture. Surveys since 2011 have been revealing that a space for organized, large-scale ascetic practices and rituals once spread across this land overlooking the summit of Mount Mitoku. Based on the latest research findings, participants will hike mountain trails involving a genuine climb of approximately 2 hours each way to the archaeological site while listening to easy-to-understand explanations by experts. Unlike typical sightseeing strolls, this event requires appropriate physical stamina. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, a hat, and sturdy athletic shoes with non-slip soles such as trekking shoes, and bring drinks, rain gear, work gloves, a towel, and lunch. Anyone can participate, but possessing the physical stamina capable of a 2-hour one-way mountain climb is a mandatory requirement. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to the following week.
