The "23rd Taiyo no Oka Cosmos Festa 2026" will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Taiyo no Oka Engaru Park in Engaru Town, Hokkaido. At this event, 10 million cosmos flowers bloom across a vast 10-hectare flower field, known as one of Japan's largest cosmos fields. The blooming season for the cosmos is from late August to late September, and on the day of the event, stage events such as the Cosmos Dance Festa and the "Soreike! Anpanman Show" will be held. In addition, numerous attractions enjoyable for both adults and children are prepared, including food and local specialty stalls, inflatable play equipment, a portrait caricature corner, and street performances. Supported by volunteer activities of Engaru residents, the beautiful flower field attracts many people as a famous flower spot in Eastern Hokkaido. The hilly terrain of Engaru Town, which resembles the Mexican highlands where cosmos originated, is ideal for cosmos cultivation, bustling with many flower-viewing visitors every year. Another notable feature is that town residents harvest seeds from the native cosmos varieties grown in the park to plant as the following year's cosmos. Alongside the moss phlox in spring, cosmos in autumn is a representative flower symbolizing the popularity of Engaru Town.
