About this event
The Matsue Festival Do Procession, a traditional event that colors autumn in Matsue, is held as a festival celebrating the founding of the feudal domain. On the day, Do float stalls carrying 2 to 3 Do drums ranging from 1.2 m to 1.8 m in diameter gather in front of Matsue Castle Otemae, where joint drum performances are held until departure. Afterward, the procession departs at 13:30, with children in matching happi coats pulling the Do float stalls and young people beating the drums to reverberate heroic drum sounds throughout the city. This festival is a precious opportunity to experience the history and culture of Matsue.
