Shimamura Hogetsu Walking Event 2026

About this event

A walking event spotlighting playwright Shimamura Hogetsu will be held in Kanagi Town, Hamada City, the place where he was raised. Participants can walk through places associated with Shimamura Hogetsu while fully enjoying autumn nature. The event will proceed in light rain, and the meeting location is the Oguni Community Center. The participation fee is 300 yen, but free for junior high school students and younger (including lunch). Advance registration is recommended. Featured walking courses include a course exploring the Kanagi area, a hand-kneaded pottery experience course at a Sekishu tile kiln with 200 years of history, an Iwami Kagura village tour course, a course visiting sites associated with the Battle of Sekishuguchi during the Second Choshu Expedition, and a women's travel course tracing the phantom Kohin Railway Imafuku Line.
