About this event
The Hagi-Iwami Airport Festival is an event where visitors can view aircraft and airport work vehicles on the apron, an area normally restricted to the public. Exhibits include chemical fire trucks, ground support equipment (GSE) vehicles, Japan Self-Defense Forces C-2 transport aircraft, ladder trucks, police cars, ambulances, and Self-Defense Forces disaster-response vehicles. In addition, rare hands-on experiences are available, such as a water discharge experience with the new airport fire engine (limited to 3rd grade elementary school students and older, numbered tickets distributed), a snowplow water discharge experience, and an aerial work platform ride. Inside the terminal building, visitors can enjoy the ANA Kids' Uniform Photo Studio, a weather science experiment corner, Flying Honu craft making, afternoon tea served with airport honey (ends once sold out), a mini fire department concert, a maintenance quiz, the Sky Day Painting Exhibition award ceremony, and an airport classroom exhibition. Outside, there will be a greeting by Shiba Inu dogs and a Kuidaore food stall village. With the Sky Day Painting Exhibition and meteorological observation equipment displays, the event is packed with a wide variety of aviation-related exhibits and activities. This event is also part of the R8 Iwami Touring Stamp Rally.
