About this event
This is a regular monthly performance of Iwami Kagura held at Palette Gotsu, located at 1518-1 Gotsu-cho, Gotsu-shi, Shimane Prefecture (opposite JR Gotsu Station). Starting from April 2025 (Reiwa 7), each performance lasts 2.5 hours by one troupe, allowing you to experience the powerful dances of Iwami Kagura up close. Performances are held on the second Sunday of each month, except in June, December, and January when they are held on the third Sunday, and in September on the first Sunday. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults, 500 yen for children (junior high school students and under), and free for preschoolers. Photography is permitted, but video recording is prohibited. The performance schedule is updated monthly, and participating troupes and programs can be checked in advance. Iwami Kagura is a representative traditional performing art of the Iwami region, reenacting mythological stories to lively musical accompaniment with flutes and taiko drums. The dances performed in gorgeous, dazzling costumes captivate all who watch.
