About this event
This symposium is held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the excavation of 39 bronze bells (dotaku), the largest number found anywhere in Japan. Based on the latest research findings on dotaku and Yayoi period festivals, it delves deeply into the significance of the Kamo-Iwakura dotaku. On the day, lectures will include 'Discovery of Kamo-Iwakura Dotaku and Its Significance' by Daisuke Kitajima and 'Kamo-Iwakura Dotaku Viewed from Casting Technology' by Kunihiko Shimizu. Furthermore, reports will be given by Shin Higashimori on 'Kamo-Iwakura Dotaku and Yayoi Festivals' and by Toshihiro Shinji on 'The Kamo-Iwakura Site and Kojindani Site', deepening understanding of Yayoi period rituals and relationships between archaeological sites. Finally, a panel discussion based on these presentations is planned, where discussions will be held on the characteristics of Kamo-Iwakura dotaku and the importance of the sites in Yayoi society in Izumo. It will be a valuable learning opportunity for history fans and those interested in ancient culture.
