About this event
The 'Traditional Performing Arts and Light Festival' will be held at a shrine in Tsuga, Misato Town, Shimane Prefecture, featuring a collaboration between subtle, enchanting illuminations and traditional Kagura dance. In this area, where the central sacred pillar ('Shin-no-Mihashira') that supports Izumo Grand Shrine was historically harvested, around 1,000 bamboo lanterns crafted from thinned bamboo groves and approximately 2,000 candles—totaling 3,000 lights—fantastically illuminate the shrine grounds and the surrounding Kagura hall. Amid this moving atmosphere of lights, the Kagura dance performed by the Tsuga Kagura Troupe is breathtaking, offering an experience unique to this location. Furthermore, a photo spot crafted with bamboo lanterns will debut this year, allowing visitors to capture memorable photos. The event will proceed in light rain but will be cancelled in severe weather. It gets cold at night, so please dress warmly.
