November Tour: Shape Your Future on Nishinoshima - Relocation Experience Tour & Follow-up Seminar

About this event

This is a migration experience tour and follow-up seminar held in Nishinoshima Town, Shimane Prefecture, where magnificent views of the Kuniga Coast and peaceful time await. Participants will explore daily life on the island, part of the Oki UNESCO Global Geopark, as well as community-rooted, warm medical and welfare facilities. There will be plenty of time to experience Nishinoshima's nature and history, including trekking along the Kuniga Coast to enjoy breathtaking views, and visiting Yurahime Shrine (the Ichinomiya of Oki Province) and Takuhi Shrine (a symbol of the island). Local cultural experiences, such as a "clay dyeing workshop" using local red soil, are also scheduled. Participants will visit Oki Dozen Hospital (the only hospital with beds on the island), the Nishinoshima Town Social Welfare Council (the island's welfare hub), and the Nishinoshima Welfare Association (which provides caring support), giving a firsthand sense of the warm, multidisciplinary collaborative workplace environment. Jobs open to beginners are also available. Through shopping at local grocery stores, touring trial migration housing, and attending an evening dinner social with previous migrants and local residents, participants can hear authentic voices about island life and explore the realities and appeals of relocating. After the tour concludes, a follow-up seminar will be held in Tokyo for participants to share their impressions and discuss their future involvement with Nishinoshima.
