About this event
At Achi Shrine, located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, the 'Autumn Grand Festival and Goshinko Procession' will be observed on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2026. This festival is a major event in Kurashiki dating back to the Edo period. On Saturday, October 17, a ritual will be held at the worship hall, and from the evening, dedicatory performing arts called 'Kaminiwai' will be presented. The dedicatory performing arts are scheduled to include 'Dance of the Three Goddesses,' 'Urayasu Dance,' 'Children's Bitchu Kagura,' 'Festival Music and Lion Dance,' and 'Kurashiki Tenryo Taiko,' allowing visitors to enjoy local traditional performing arts. In addition, on the same day, a 'Vehicle Procession' carrying portable shrines on vehicles will parade through the parishioner areas. On the following day, Sunday, October 18, the 'Goshinko Procession' will be carried out, featuring a period-costume parade walking through the town alongside the portable shrine bearing the divine spirit. The majestic procession colors the town of Kurashiki and enlivens the festival's climax. Furthermore, this festival is held concurrently with the 'Kurashiki Folding Screen Festival.'
